September 2010 Events

Saturday 18 September 2010 The Friends of the National Archives – Pittsfield, MA, will present its annual Full-Day Genealogy Conference, Life in the Past Lane VII,  at the Williams Inn in Williamstown, MA.

The day will include lectures by Jean Nudd, Leslie Albrecht-Huber, and Gregory Pomicter. The registration fee includes morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch, and a roundtable question and answer period hosted by a panel of experts. Vendors will be on hand to provide products of interest to genealogists.

We will also have our popular free prize raffle.

Friday and Saturday, 1–2 October 2010 The Polish Genealogical Society of America's next conference will be held on  at the Hilton Hotel in Oak Lawn, Illinois. The hotel is located at 9333 S. Cicero Avenue.

Friday and Saturday, 1–2 October 2010 The Minnesota Genealogical Society announces the 2010 North Star Genealogy Conference in South St. Paul, Minnesota. The featured genealogy educator is Thomas W. Jones, CG, CGL. Four breakout session tracks: 1) Technology for Genealogy, 2) Foundation Genealogy Sources, 3) Methods for our Madness, and 4) Family History Writing, Publishing and Heirloom Preservation.

Saturday 16 October 2010 The annual SAGHS one day Seminar will be held at the Doubletree Hotel located at 502 W. Durango, San Antonio, TX. John P Colletta is our guest speaker and will present 4 topics - Breaking Through Brick Walls;
Using Newspapers for Family History Research; Using Original and Derivative sources: How to Evaluate Evidence; and How to Assemble and Write a Narrative Family History.

He is well known throughout the genealogy community having taught at the Smithsonian Institute, the National Archives, etc. He additionally presented programs on radio and TV.

This shall be both an educational and entertaining day. See you there.

The 70th annual
Horace L. Murphy reunion
will be held Sunday, June 27th, at the Urbana Fire Hall. Lunch will be family-style at noon. Bring a meat dish, salad or vegetable, and dessert; lemonade and paper products will be provided. There will be a talent show for children and games — bring any sports equipment.
